Let’s Talk About Birth Doula Certification

I know many of you visiting my site are already in training or certified - and that’s fantastic! But if you’re not there yet, let’s talk about it. Here’s my perspective as The Doula Mentor...

There are countless opportunities to train and certify as a Birth Doula. While certification isn’t required, I highly recommend it. If you’re serious about building a thriving doula business, the question isn’t IF you should certify - it’s who you should certify with.

For me, the answer is clear: Birth Boot Camp (BBC). Yes, I’m a little biased since I’m a Birth Doula Trainer for BBC, but let me share why. Over my 30+ years in birth work, I’ve trained with multiple organizations. I’ve experienced their fee structures, renewal processes, and ongoing support firsthand. When I decided to become a Doula Trainer, I carefully evaluated which program aligned with my values and the level of support I wanted for my future trainees.
